Slough, UK, 8 April 2011 – International
solutions provider Logicalis today announced the launch of an
Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Cloud Hosting Programme, enabling
ISVs to take advantage of secure and cost efficient cloud hosting
services directly connected to major public and private sector
communications networks. The programme will offer ISVs access
to Logicalis’ cloud platforms and support in migrating their
applications.
“ISVs are ideally placed to leverage the cloud to scale their
offerings to a larger customer base, and to service customers who
now do not want to own and operate the underlying hardware that
software resides on, but take it as a service,” said Chris Gabriel,
Director of Solutions and Marketing at Logicalis UK. “But, ISVs
very often lack the financial ability to build their own cloud
solutions, or, do not have the capacity themselves to re-write
their existing applications to sit on the very specific services
offered by many cloud providers. Logicalis’ ISV Cloud Hosting
Programme means we can offer them immediate and cost effective
access to the cloud, provide them with a great opportunity to meet
the growing demand for Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, and
enable them to access new customers in the private and public
sector markets.”
Logicalis offers ISVs a secure hosting platform able to support
the majority of major operating systems, including all major
hypervisors, Windows operating systems, and LINUX and UNIX
platforms, to simplify the transition to cloud.
“The issue for many ISVs is not developing their software to
support a multi-tenant model; it is that most cloud offerings are
prescriptive in the operating systems they will support or in the
cost model of buying a virtual machine by the slice. This
makes the technical and financial move to the cloud prohibitive for
many,” commented Simon Daykin, CTO of Logicalis UK. “Our
Cooperative Enterprise Cloud design alleviates all of these
issues. We are today providing cloud hosting that supports
hybrid operating systems and applications, with Oracle, Windows and
VMware all residing together in the same hosted environment.”
The ISV market is one of the UK’s largest technology sectors,
with ISVs selling their solutions directly to end users who then
own and operate the server, storage and network platforms.
With the advent of cloud infrastructure and SaaS offerings
disrupting the status quo of the market, Logicalis provides a
platform to alleviate the investment required for ISVs to build and
operate their own infrastructure.
Logicalis Business Development Director, Mike Cummins,
commented, “Logicalis is already in dialogue with a number of ISVs
that are looking to grow their market in both the public and
private sectors, and adopting new delivery methods is a
fundamental aspect to them achieving that growth. What is
clear from these engagements is that the Logicalis’ Cooperative
Enterprise Cloud can reduce the cost of sale and time to market,
whilst also lowering the barriers to adoption.”
Logicalis will be opening its doors to the ISV community on May
12th and June 16th 2011 at ‘A Home for ISV’s’ Open Day, providing
an opportunity to explore the Logicalis cloud computing platform
and cloud hosting services.
