Logicalis Partnership Boosts University of Manchester Company - Internet Facilitators Ltd
Logicalis, the assured application infrastructure provider, today announced, through the development of a three year relationship with the University of Manchester, their selection as Network Management Partner to Internet Facilitators Ltd (IFL), a co-location provider and commercial arm of Manchester Computing, the University of Manchester's academic computing service.
Originally founded in 1997, in the University of Manchester, IFL was created to provide carrier neutral co-location services for ISP's. Eight years later, IFL now operates two data centres in Manchester and primarily works with ISPs and online businesses, providing a secure environment for their customers to locate network and server equipment.
As part of the partnership with IFL, Logicalis will implement a 10 Gigabit network, which will be fully managed and maintained from their Slough offices. The network will provide IFL's customers with seamlessly enabled connectivity, through VLAN, DOT1Q, multiple service ports and an Internet exchange, which will facilitate inter-provider traffic exchange.
