Application Performance Management

Logicalis EPM solutions enable the monitoring of the service delivery of your applications to end users. These solutions can provide a mix of passive (observational) and active (testing) measurements of application performance, and can use both system agent based and some network infrastructure embedded technologies to perform this.

Passive solutions reside on the end user workstation and simply measure all of the application transactions that the user makes. Each transaction is either a success or a failure and successful transactions provide a response time that is broken down into network, server and client processing times.

Active solutions provide autonomous testing of applications. These can either be pre-defined tests of common protocols (such as TCP port connections or SMTP messages) or bespoke tests of particular application transactions (such as an in-house application login, data lookup and record creation transactions). Unlike passive measurements, which only provide data while a user is active, active solutions provide 24x7 testing of application availability and performance.

Application performance monitoring solutions can seamlessly employ a mix of passive and active technologies. Any SLA breaches with application response times or issues with application availability are alerted in real time. Long term reporting provides both trend analysis and service level information. Trend analysis will disclose the differences in application availability and response times across your enterprise to your local and remote end users. Service level reports will show how well applications are being delivered.
