29 March 2018 - Logicalis UK, the international IT solutions and managed services provider, today announced plans to implement a new development programme, in a bid to widen the technology talent pool through upskilling as well as encouraging new entrants. The Trainee, Apprentices and Graduates (TAG) initiative will look to provide real-world experience and offer skills training at trainee, apprenticeship and graduate level.
Bob Swallow, Managing Director at Logicalis UK, comments: “At Logicalis we’ve always invested in up-and-coming talent by taking on graduates and offering work experience placements. But, the launch of this programme will mark an exciting shift towards a more structured approach. Through our new TAG scheme, we’ll be able to offer those just starting out a supportive induction into the world of work. They'll experience what goes into the day-to-day running of a successful business, gaining invaluable customer service and interpersonal skills, developing new techniques and working as part of a team to get results.”
The TAG programme has been designed to cater for individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and candidates will not have to possess a degree to apply. Looking forward, Logicalis UK plans to expand and broaden the programme further, investing in other initiatives to help foster technical talent within the areas that the company operates and further afield.
“In our digitally driven world, the current STEM skills shortage is unavoidable. That’s why nurturing talent and encouraging growth in these areas is critical,” added Swallow. “By opening the programme up, we avoid discounting a potential pool of talented individuals just because they do not fit a certain mould. TAG is all about creating skills, transferring them, improving them and teaching them- regardless of background and experience. We hope to help create a digitally aware and capable workforce while encouraging individuals to aim higher and achieve greater things.”
